Welcome to Bournemouth Aero Club.

Welcome to the website of Bournemouth Aero Club and we hope that your visit will prove interesting and informative.  It was formed out of a shared interest in aviation by people who enjoy the company of others, be it participating in the various events that are organised, or just watching the comings and goings at Bournemouth International Airport over some refreshments.

We are holding our meetings at Bournemouth Flying Club Cafe, adjacent to Bournemouth Flying Club Flight Centre, in the north east corner of the airport.  If you are interested in taking up flying, visit the BFC website for more information via the link.  Please note carefully that you do not have to be a pilot, or a trainee, to belong to Bournemouth Aero Club!

The BFC Cafe has a bar and a restaurant and there are unrivalled views of the main runway from the patio.  We organise club barbecues and there’s nothing to beat a balmy summer evening, sipping that cooling drink and watching the  arrivals and departures of anything from Ryanair 737s to two seat Cessna 152s.  The BFC Cafe building and patio have been recently (March 2009) completely refurbished.  They are tastefully presented and the accompanying food is of first class quality at reasonable pricing.  Give it a try!

There are organised trips to join, and recent outings have been to HMS Excellent, the Royal Navy training establishment,  and Bletchley Park, the home of the UK Government’s code breaking organisation during World War II.  There is a full programme of planned trips on the “Events” page, and in the Newsletter, also accessible on this website.

We are conscious of our local charities and each year we raise money to support them.  We recently made a significant donation to The Dorset and Wiltshire Air Ambulance and our charity for this year is MOSAIC, supporting bereaved children and their families..

So why not become a member?  The membership fees are very modest as you will see from the “Members” page (where you can download an application form) and you will receive a very warm welcome. Of course if you are already a member you will know all this, but hopefully you will find something new in these pages to interest you.
